Composer Jane Livermore has been writing professionally for eight years. She lives in Guildford and has a home studio where she writes music for film, television and theatre, running under the company Motion Music Ltd. More recently, since the birth of her son William, she has turned her hand at writing music for children.
"Having written music for several children’s productions, I wanted to write something for William and his friends, that not only they would enjoy but also their parents. So I came up with Cheeky Little Monkeys - Music for Little Un's which I hope does the job! Due to popular feedback I am planning a Volume Two very soon." After reading Music at the University of Surrey, where she wrote six orchestral works for chamber orchestra and two theatrical scores, she studied Composition for Film and Television at the London College of Music. Here she scored and produced four short films, one of which received the FUJI-FILM Scholarship and subsequently won the Carlton Television Screenplay Award at BAFTA in September 1996. Jane went on to write and produce music for various television broadcasts as well as a feature film and a musical. Commissions include the docu-drama Glen Miller's Last Flight on Channel 4, and Cheer for Charlie on BBC1 with Charlie Dimmock, which saw the well known gardener learning to fly the trapeze! Other BBC productions include Althorp, A Family Garden, where Earl Spencer was interviewed in the grounds of his stately home, reminiscing on his childhood with Diana, Princess of Wales. In July 1997 Jane began her television work with an educational documentary series for Channel Four, Science in Focus, designed for school children. In Summer 2000 Jane scored her biggest work to date, Dazzle, a children’s feature film for Sky Premier. She has also composed the songs and music for 52 episodes of the children's series, Filligoggin, which appeared on ITV2 last year. Another route Jane has taken was to score a musical. A Tale of Two Cities commenced in Summer '99 collaborating with playwright and librettist Warren Cabral. Performances are hoped for a London Theatre in the near future. Due to her new role of Motherhood, Jane is now concentrating on William and music that will benefit him. The songs are influenced hugely by the children she sees every day and the things they get up to. They should leave a smile on your faces too…. "For those of you who love singing to and with your children, this CD is just perfect..!" Jo Rew, National Childbirth Trust Representative for Guildford |
